    I paid like 60 for Bob, but she was a large one and was very very bright colored. Plus she was a pet of the store for a while!

    30 sounds reasonable, anywhere between 30 and 60 i would say.

    I have seen them at liveaquaria.com and blue zoo recently. They are often times listed as clown mantis! Probably could get your LFS to special order one also

    MAKE SURE YOU POST PICS! :}

    Your lucky if you find one for $30. $50 is the going rate, but it depends on the size. For the life of me I don't get why larger ones go for more.

    For online vendors liveaquaria.com is your best bet unfortunately. Your LFS will most likely be able to order one. They are very easy to ID so them getting the wrong species isn't a huge concern. You can identify them by the leopard spots on the sides of their carapace.

    In related news divers den has an L. maculata, it is going for $149.99, won't fit in your tank and requires an extremely deep sand bed, but its cool none the less.

    O.s. are more susceptible to shell disease than some of the smaller species. It's easy to avoid though;

    Don't overlight them
    run carbon
    give them good water quality
    give them a quality food

    What is cheapest mantis shrimp you can buy? Also one that'll probably live the longest, and require least...well, anything.
