YES. I have seen a Harley Davidson fueled on one of these. I dont know if hydrogen is the way of the future but its on my radar as the next step in oil independence. We have the technology to do this. Why auto companies havent captalized on this I do not know but I have a few theories.

LOL its all about captial. If you cant tax it and make it more independent orinted they wont do it.

Good question and I hate to admit but I dont have an answer for you. I have been running this for a few months. It works. I havent seen any side effects so far. The only issue I keep running into is I foul plugs often. I have been toying with the fuel mixture. By reducing the amount of fuel I use i get better mpg however, this creates more heat. Every action has a reaction. It gets very technical. One of the biggest issues I have is with the O2 sensors. They can be hard to manipulate.

    For me, it's:

    • Personal Finance/Investing - Technically not 'expesive', although it does consume the lion's share of my income and I have yet to ever take any profits. But a hobby nonetheless.
    • All things fishing - be it pier, surf, fly, inshore, offshore, etc.
    • All things outdoors - Trips to REI add up after a while ;)
    • Live music - adding up ticket costs, plus related costs like airfare, hotels, wining & dining, etc has got to be up there. Probably somewhere in the range of $4-5K+ per year.

Im sure the reason why you are fouling plugs is because its runnning way to hot maybe if you get 2 step colder plugs and make it a little more rich instead of leaning it out then it might run cooler. Also are you using a narrow band O2 sensor? If so you might try a wideband O2 and run it the vehical in the open loop. Maybe that will help out some im sure since you are working on this project you already know lots about this stuff but if not that is a little car knowledge for you :) Very interested in seeing the size of the fuel cell and how its charged.

    Cars..

well specifically the Dodge LX line (Magnum, 300, Charger, and Challenger though technically an LC)

Not a great shot as it's off my Blackberry but mine is on the Left and the one on the right is what it used to look like.

Lots of work done since that image was taken too..

The Magnum is a daily driver tthat lives outside in my driveway all year.
Hood, Front bumber and Wheels are changed summer to winter every year.
Has been to more shows then I can count.
Has more track passes on the 1/4 mile then I care to count.
Has a 3rd set of wheels (front and rear) specifically for the track

currently holds the 2nd fastest in Canada and 3rd fastest in North America records for it's class on the 1/4. (LX 3.5 Super stock)

yeah it's a 4000lbs race weight 3.5 V6 with a stock motor that is one of only 3 in the 14's...

plugs foul when they are run rich, ie, the gas shorts the electrodes together and it cannot create a spark.

A "cooler plug" DOES NOT make the engine run cooler. It has more insulation in it so that the gas does not evaporate as fast, and is actually more likely to foul than a "hotter plug".

A hotter plug will have less thermal insulation to the electrode and allow gas to be burned off quicker, however the disadvantage is that a hotter plug can create a "hot spot" which can cause gasoline to combust sooner under compression, which is called "pre-detonation".

Finding the correct plug for the application means first of all that it fits the hole you're plugging it into and meets the clearance requirements of the piston (more or less) but also that the heat requirements are met. Too hot, and you get pre-detonation from the plugs, too cold and you get fouling.

If you're plugs are too cold, they will foul, plain and simple. But my guess is that he is fouling plugs for a different reason all together. I bet that IF this thing he created actually exists, that H20 is forming in the combustion chamber and is not being burned off quickly enough so it fouls the plug. ;)

Leaning out the mixture in a typical gas combustion engine means that the engine will run hotter and can also cause pre-detonation. Running rich will cool off the combustion chamber. The fuel entering the combustion chamber and surrounding the piston also cools the piston off as it evaporates. But if you're running too rich, you'll foul plugs, and also lose performance (and obviously your gas mileage will suffer).

I'm starting to think so far that the 20 mpg he's seeing may just be from running the engine really lean and the "hydrogen" that is added is giving him false numbers, but really has little effect on the process. I don't think this is a well thought out/ engineered plan and it sounds like hooey to me.

He still hasn't described how he collects the "hydrogen" and injects it into the combustion chamber.
