I have dead rock in a tub with 8 lbs of live rock with a powerhead and temp set to 82. My ammonia read 1ppm with the API kit. I added ammonium this morning at 1 drop per gallon. I will test later. Should I add One and Only regular or the reef one to help it cycle along? Also when I add the LR to a new tank I am setting up with it do another mini cycle?

What exactly are you trying to do with the dead/live rock in the tub? If you what to 'coat' it with nitrifiers then yes add some One & Only to the tub but you will probably also need to add some to the tank once you set it up and move the dead/live rock.

Get it ready for my tank when I set it up. I am trying to seed the bacteria to the dead live rock so it will be ready to go when the tank gets set up.

That may or may work only because you can't assume the nitrifiers are in the rock. To help make sure have a pump or something at the bottom of the tub to keep things in suspension and some Bacteria ready to add to the tank.

Right I have a pump moving water around. I was banking on the bacteria sticking to the rock and growing on the rock. Didn't know bacteria could float and thrive. I was always told you need a place for it to grow.

The bacteria will stick to the rock but if they settle on the tub bottle they can't get to the rock so you just want to keep stirring things so the bacteria don't settle on the bottom.
