What are pyramid snails? Do they eat clams? Can you just pick them off if you have any?

They are really little clams that colonize near the base of the clam, and yes will kill your clam. I'd look them ASAP and then check your clam for them before he attaches and can't be pulled off safely!

While you're at it, researched pinched mantle disease!

It is also easier to find pyramid snails after the lights have been off for a couple of hours. They hide during the day and come out at night. I pulled at least 5 of my maxima every night and they just kept popping up. It took 3 days of me being at the hospital for them to kill the clam from the inside out.
