    Hey all,

Im thinking more and more ill need bite the bullet and take an aggresive stance against this issue. Ill post pictures later to make sure im actually dealing with byropsis and not something else. My water values have been where they should be but it doesnt seem to make the smallest dent on this stuff....

So my plan is to raise mg to about 1700? Its at a constant 1400 at the moment. My concerns are my snails, if i place them in a 5 l. Tank the time i treat do you folks think they will be alright? I also have an urchin, one of those that "burrow" into rocks (going to be hard to get my hands on him) as well as a small hermit.

    So my questions are these;
    A) how long does this kind of treatment take?
    B) should i risk leaving my inverts in?
    C) if instead of the mag therapy i used "dino x" or whatever its called my macro should be safe in the 5 l tank right? ( instead of the inverts)
    D) do i have any other option?

    Thank you!

If you raise mag, you need to use Kent tech M. It has an impurity that kills the bryopsis.

The only other effective treatment is spot dosing hydrogen peroxide.

    A) usually up to two weeks
    B) you typically don't lose the inverts, however most people raise to around 1500-1550, never heard of going to 1700. If you can, I'd move them to be safe. Why risk life if you don't have to.
    C) as long as none of the Dino X gets into that small tank and you provide good water quality, flow and light, yes.
    D) H2O2 hydrogen peroxide.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Use Kent Tech Mag, raise mag 100ppm/24 hours to 1600 give it a week or more, if the Bryopsis is not turning brown then re-evaluate.

Thx folks, still reading up on the whole treatment. I did read that you need kent and its "secret ingredient" to fight it. Target fighting sounds complicaited since its starting to take a stance on my sand bed too and i guess B was a stupid question...

Here are some pics of the monster

Looks like bryopsis to me. You may have a little dino as well. Kent's should definitely work for the bryopsis. It did for me.

That's not bryopsis. I had the same stuff sprout up when I set up my 34g a year ago. It looks like bryopsis but the guy at reef cleaners (whose name is escaping me right now) ID-ed it as just another type of gha
