I would think that a additional cleaner shrimp would be more expensive then (depending on the size of your tang) a $11 ten gallon tank to medicate your fish in.

My hippo has had ich twice in the last month. I just use garlic and keep the params in check. It goes away in no time. They catch ich like we catch the common cold. Now, when I see it, what goes through my mind is, "Hmmmmm......again.....". That's it. I have taken to rub garlic on a piece of algae and feed it to the fish daily. Five of seven fish benefit from this. The other two don't eat algae. If I have problems with them (fin rot or whatnot), I dip a pinch of flake food in Melafix and let it go in the tank. The second pinch is dipped in garlic juice. I let that go and call it good. So far, this routine has worked out very, very well. No losses since I started it.

No way, to set up a hostipal tank would cost more than that. I need the tank, a little filter, and a heater, and after that i need the medicine to treat the disease. we're talkin a total of about $60+. I'm not sayin its not worth it, its definitely a good investment and im gonna do it. But its gonna to cost more than $11.

I suppose if have to get all that stuff then yes. I make the mistake of assuming people have old aquarium stuff lying about. I used old stuff lying around when I put my QT up, this time of year no heater is necessary, so all I had to do is buy a tank. May bad. Carry on.

I am sorry but i am going to have to dissagree with this statement.

    IMHO....

Ich will exist in all systems and it just takes the right conditions to bring it out you are never truely 100% without ich in your system.

A hippo with ich is very very common and the best thing to do is juts let nature run its course. My hippo has had it twice and i changed nothing in my tank and he recovered just fine.

So once again IMHO... just let nature ride its course.
