Well I had a stand for a 15g tank and decided to modify it, we didn't have the time or tools to make a whole new one

We put a 2x4 next to the original base on each side, added a 2x4 inside, 4 2x2's for legs, and we made a box for the top which the tank will sit in. The box is a tight fit once I painted the wood.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
^ I like it. Each gallon of SW weighs roughly 8.2 lbs, that is a lot of weight. I am currently thinking of changing out my stand because I do not feel the stands they sell for your common tanks are really up to the challenge long term.

That's why I modified mine with lots of real wood:D
I know it's only a 15g and many just place these on hourse hold furniture(hard to find real wood furniture these days) but I felt better knowing that the stand had been reinforced with 2x4's and 2x2's plus the wood that makes the box on top. The stand is definitely far more solid than it was in the beginning;) I also painted it with weather defense paint to handle any water that it may be exposed to during maintenance.
