so i had a decent sized stilophora frag that was knocked over during the night. the next day i placed it back to it original place but i guess it stressed out and started loosing tissue from the tip down (i may have accidently touched it while moving it. always best to handle corals from the rock base) literally in a matter of hours the tissue was receding rapidly from the branches so i decided to bite the bullet and cut it before it went entirely bye bye.....boy am i glad i did!! the tissue necrosis stopped though the branches i cut off died off quickly :(.

now im left with a little frag that has a thick trunk and a single branch but im seeing the coral tissue cover the fresh cut made (this was about a week ago btw).

so yea just thought id share my exp with other "noobs", im not saying to go and hack away at your corals but if you see that the coral tissue is rapidly receding that might just be your last chance.

also anyone else out there who has more experience on the matter, let your voice or text be heard......or read.....

Kudos to you for saving what you could, and thanks for sharing. :)

FWIW, in the presence of larger fish or motile inverts, it's always best to secure the plug to the rock to help prevent these types of catastrophes.

Yeah, unfortunately when corals get knocked over, they can get damaged and start to die off (probably not from touching it, but I guess anything id possible). Keeping things secure can be tough though. I've had a few falls in my tanks, usually they end up falling on the most aggressive coral in the tank too LOL.

I know right? It's like when you have a wound and you always seem to bash it into doors or what not
