I'll check the guantee again. I know the lights are supposed to last 5 years anyway. So, one year down and all is good so far. I keep them very clean of dust and such. I got them on one of his sales he has a few times a year anyway. I have no problem just replacing the leds when the time comes. I have 4 royal blues and one cool white in each. I truly enjoy them and they bring out so much color in the corals and whole tank.

So that means you have 2 non-anodized heatsinks and 2 black anodized correct?- not that it really has anything to do with performance

Can I ask you to look at the lights again when they're off. Specifically the Cool white diodes. Compare the old to the new. There is absolutely no browning?

So in the 10 years of it's perceived lifespan, a LED unit should be expected to lose 50% (HALF!) of it's original output?? All I can say is "Wow"!!

IMHO, that's not even a viable work-around, especially for the price...

I have my fans running 24/7 but I'm sure you could have them turn on when you turn you lights on.

Here are pics of my temp gauge, heatsink fans and hood fans. At 70% with the fans running at half speed I can keep that heatsink at a cool 124.5 F.[IMG]

actually, it works out to a 40% loss over 10 years if the 5% number is accurate. I think that's roughly what a halide loses in 6 months. For all the benefits I can imagine of a halide or t5 over LED, there is no way to massage the math to make long term light stability out to be one of them.

Yeah, Mr. Bill, that's not a linear function. :p

    5% per year = a collective 37% loss over 10 years.

Why don't you guys talk about all the money us led users save in just a few years while everyone else replaces t5s and mh bulbs evey 6 months to a year LOL. Imo led is the way to go. Plain and simple. That's all I have to say about that

Well said! Plus there is very little heat, that's always a plus. No chiller for me! :)
