I woke up to my leather coral all bent over, it was just fine then all of the sudden bent over. My water is
    0 nitrate
    0 phosphate
    8.3 pH
    10 KH
380 calcium (working to increase it)

    tank is 1.5 years old.

Could this be a flatworm doing this?

Is this normal behavior for a Leather?

I love this coral I'm terribly worried about it. Someone I know said maybe take it out and treat it for flatworm exit for 30 minutes....

    Thoughts, suggestions?

He does appear to be slumped more than I have seen them, but I want to say this is normal behavior and he will perk up quickly. These are very hardy corals.

If you use Saliferts FW Exit you can leave him in - like I said, very hardy. He may shed his skin off the head but then he will open up and stand tall again.

    Edit:
Oh, sorry – forgot to respond to one of your questions….I suppose it *could* be a flatworm causing him angst, but I seriously doubt it. FW’s from my experience are just an eyesore – until you kill them, then the toxin is phenomenally dangerous – follow the box directions and have the fresh carbon ready to go if you do use the FW exit.

    great!

Good to hear, I'll just wait a few days and see if he stands tall again.

I did add a Frogspawn about 5 inches away from him and I thought maybe he got stung by the frogspawn, so I moved the Frogspawn 2 feet away from him just in case.

Much better!! Karma to you all!

Today it's all good! 1 day of "sleeping" all bent over and the next day it looks better than ever.

It is called "shutting down". They shut down to feed and shed. They can look like that for a very long time (up to a month). So if it happens again, no worry.

Man I've had my share with leathers, toadstools included.
They do this periodically. It's always heart wrenching to watch your perfectly healthy prize do this.
I'm glad to see that it's doing better.
