It's snowing in my tank

I just did a water change today and it now looks like snow in my tank. I used the Petco salt as they were out of instant ocean. I mixed it overnight with a pump as my mixer in a 55 gallon drum. After the water change I didn't see any salt floating around and I am concerned that maybe this is ICH. Their are now white spots all over 2 of my fish.

My question is, can a tank go from crystal clear to full of ICH in a couple of hours. And can a fish be engulfed in ICH in a couple hours or is it a slower process.

 

Sounds like calcium precipitation more than ich,you don't see ich in it's free swimming stages.

 

have you checked your salinity?
what are your parameters?

 

what size tank, how long set up, whats your full stocking list and can ya post pics????

I doubt that its Ich in the tank, may be a bacterial bloom, or something spawned a ton of babies/eggs.

How big is the "snow"?

Sounds like you didnt mix the salt very well?

 

210 gallon tank
1 1/2 month setup
55 gallon water changes every week
Salinity is 1.022

I will check everything else right now.

I doubt it was bad mixing of salt as I have a strong pump that I ran in the barrel for 10 hours.

 

Thats alot of, and BIG WC's for such a new tank. Has it finished cycling and if so, how long ago?

And livestock?

 

Could be alk? When ever I add alk to my sump it looks like its snowing, it forms big crystal like structures before dissolving.
