I pulled the eggs last night - they are in the hatch/grow tank now. If anything the eggs are turning more and more silver as they get ready to pop. There are quite a few documented hatches out there, but I couldn't find any specific to this species. There are a lot of four and five day hatch times, so this would be day four (or possibly five - they might have been laid the day before I found them).

They should spawn about every seven to 10 days, give or take a day. I did pull their flowerpot, so I'll stop by the store today before work and get another one to replace it.

I bought a trio of these guys in March of this year. The male killed the other one (drove him out of the tank). The funny part is these guys for a LONG time were stuck in a 3g plastic tank, fed maybe once every other day with next to no filtration. I'd guess the pair is at least a year, year and a half old.

And no worries about questions :D

Well due to my air stone line crimping there was no oxygen moving over the eggs for at least 12-15 hours - all the eggs have been over taken with fungus. Guess I'll have to wait for next week to try again!

    Thanks!

Nope, they are damsels. Same family, different Genera and Species. The larva are also about 1/3 the size of clown larva as well.

Haven't updated in a long time - figure its time :)

The damsels are laying about every 7-8 days now, and each nest is getting bigger and bigger. The second was about twice the size of the first - close to 1500-1750 eggs!

With the holidays and work I haven't really tried to raise them, but I did get about a 95% hatch rate from the second batch.

Shot of the second nest compared to the first:

Update - looks like they laid these about four days ago - some of these little guys look like they want out!

The eggs were put into a black round tub with phyto and A. tonsa copepods. I'd normally try rotifers but these guys are about a third the size of clownfish larvae, and rots would be too big for them anyway. I do have a pretty good (5-6M) size culture of pods in there, so hopefully there will be enough for them to eat.

    If not, try try again!
