How long should I leave it mid tank for acclimation? I would like to move it up so it has more light and more flow. I know its only been there for half a day, I'm just curious...

I'm having a hard time really getting a good look. I suggest turning down the exposure on you cam and you might get a little better pic.

Just looks a little bleached but should come back in no time in the proper conditions. The purple Idaho Grape colony that I have likes intense lighting. Give it a week or two in the location that you have it in and if you see improvements start moving it up.

I'm just concerned there isn't enough flow for it in that spot, but the only spots I have with high flow are closer to the light...

This can't be a good sign, small hermit and a snail.

    Bummer

Do not be too disappointed, you will come across monti frags routinely when looking for corals and you can usually get them for very cheap or free.

For me montipora are more senstive to lighting changes then most of my other sps. If I start them out high they usually bleach and it takes a few weeks to see improvement. If the piece was just fragged they can just melt completely quickly, I know I have had it happen.

Maybe you should check your ammonia level to be sure the last value was in error.

If you use epoxy to place them it is a lot easier to remove them and change location in the tank. Acclimating a coral to light can take weeks that why frag racks are nice.
