is this large enough for clown breeding?

So my 120 gallon seems too big for my clowns
a true perc and a grade b picasso. ive recently set up a 10 gallon tank that i want to move them too so they have their own percy tank to breed. tank is 20 inches long by 10 inches wide by 12 inches tall. i modded an onld marine land hang on back filter by removing media, creating a mini sand band and then filling the rest of it with live rock and adding some filter floss. i have an extra 65 gallon protein skimmer should i add it to the tank>

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Clownfish will breed in tanks as small as 10 gallons no problem.

The breeder I got my pair from had all his breeding pairs in 10 gallon tanks with flower pots for them to lay the eggs on and all tanks had a nice supply of GHA.

Now raising the fry is a whole different ball game, not tank size but specifics with regard to environment and equipment.

oh i know, Ive been researching about that, just most other peoples i read was like a 29 gallon breeder or a 40, so i wasn't sure if the ten would be too small or the filtration i currently have hooked up would be good enough to control the water to be pristine.
    thanks for your fast input.

are you going to put a light over the filter with the live rock? How is that filter keeping your water quality? Do you have to do frequent water changes?

I'm personally not a fan of 10g tanks for breeding for couple of reasons. But yes the space is plenty.

The glass is flimsy and cracks easily if you decide to plumb it into a sump. If you don't plumb it you will be doing a lot of water changes to try to maintain the water quality. If you want a serious shot at raising the fry you will need to feed your pair very well - a well fed pair = healthier and stronger fry starting out. With all the additional food you will foul a 10 pretty fast.

So again - The size of the 10 is fine but it needs to be plumbed into a sump to make it worthwhile. Petco is having their $1 per gallon sale all over the country right now. You might consider a 20 gallon tank. I've been keeping my brood stock in 20's with some cheato / rock and a koralia 2 - it works just fine. I still do plenty of water changes but it's not that bad. The 20 also has thicker glass and you can sleep easier at night if you do decide to drill it.

Thanks for your input. I've been studying your clown thread. I actually went with a 28 gallon tank that's like a Biocube. So it has a built in compartment in the back. It came with no hardware so I nodded it and turned it into a 5 stage filter and have about 9 different types of macro algae in the tank. The algae is growing beautifully making it look more like a reef. It's only a matter of time until their first spawn I hope.

Domino clownfish crossed w a black misbar so it could be an interesting result

Also I currently only feed new life spectrum pellets and cyclopeeze frozen. 2x a day.

My original plan got changed. For the better I think
