sorry no pictures. It has not opened up in at least 4 weeks maby even longer. It is also started to grow algae on the face of it. i have removed the algae but it starts to grow back. I dont get it. the coral looks fine and it is firm to the touch. It dosnt look or feel dead. It hasnt changed colors. It just hasnt opened up in a long time and is growing algae on it.

I dont no my water parameters but thats one of my hardest corals everything els looks great.

Im just wondering how long do i leave this coral in my tank before i give up on it?

I personally wouldnt give up on it. Mine was closed for 2 weeks when it was trying the shed! I would move it around a bit, mine likes being toward the top of the tank! Good luck!

What type of leather coral is it, what kind of lighting and how much flow do you have? Different leathers can have different requirements with those.

It would also help to know your nitrate and phosphate levels. More difficult species can be more sensitive to high nutrients.

It has shed before. Never this long...moving it is not really an option. its big and on a big rock.

With algae growing on it, it sounds like it needs more flow. If you can't move it, you're going to have to arrange your flow somehow.

If it’s a leather, I would give it more time. But you might want to consider testing your water parameters. Unbalanced parameters can stress livestock and that could be affecting your leather also.
Good luck with it and I hope it starts opening again real soon.
