I do about a 20% water change every month. I would like to do 10% every two weeks but I am guilty of procrastination. I will say that my readings are always pristine and I never have issues so hopefully that means all is well.

    ;)

i maintain an assortment of fish that do not need to be fed very often. That is generally a major source of nitrates. I feed my fish 2-3x a week (mandarin gets spot fed 3-4x a week)

I dont introduce them too much and for what I do I have a lot of LR and a good skimmer. Whatever that misses becomes algae essentially and I have a nice CuC that keeps my tank visible algae free ;D

It is all about balance ;)

I have not had nitrates since october 19, 2008 (I keep a log)

It gives me faith in the ability of TX holey rock to host great bacteria colonies to break this stuff down.
