I have had my damsel for a couple of years and had the purple lobster for about 6 months with no issues.
I came home from work today and one of my damsels has a chunk out of his side.
he is still swimming around no problem and he just ate some pellets but it doesn't look good.

Any advice on what I should do?

I have just fed the lobster a whole lot of shrimp so hopefully that will satisfy him for now.

Is your tank suitable for a lobster? We need some background like that and what else you have in it.

That's what they do, unfortunately. IMOPE, purple reef lobsters are ferocious predators with an insatiable appetite, and they're quite indiscriminate with their prey as well.

It's the mantis shrimp that will eat anything and everything.

Never owned a mantis, but the purple reef lobster I had was a monster. As long as he was in my tank, crabs, shrimp, and fish kept disappearing. Once I tore my reef apart and removed him, the vanishing acts ceased. I had a 'rogue tank' set up at the time, so I placed him with the other misfits. In just a couple of weeks, the lobster was the only thing left in that system. So I repeat- IMOPE, purple reef lobsters are ferocious predators. :)

lol I was making fun of the fact that I rarely see anyone posting about their mantis killing anything except their inverts.

Can you try to separate them?
