Thanks so much everyone. I am picking up a tank to set up as a quarantine tank in a few hours then I will need to go about sorting out catching all my fish. I think the best long term solution is going to be to put them all in a quarantine tank for 6 - 12 weeks and treat them with medication and starve the ich out of my reef tank.

Wish me luck and any pointers are very welcome :)

It also depends on the fish's immune system. If its strong it will fight off the ich I have 7 year old yellow tang and ocassionally it will have white spots then it goes away. If yours eats normal and still has an appetite you have a good chance it will fight off the ich. Good luck with him:)

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Because that is roughly the time you can see the parasite on the surface of the fish. The parasite then falls to the substrate and is no longer visible to the naked eye but still present.

The parasite is opportunistic, trust me should your tank experience a decline in water quality or a particular fish become stressed you will most likely see another out break. Stress leads to outbreaks, it can be acclimation stress, nutritional deficiency stress, aggression....

It's very common for hobbyist to think the parasite is gone especially around the two week mark. The parasite is simply going through it's life cycle and the fish are better able to combat infection.

Paragaurd contains malachite green which has not been shown to be a definitive treatment for marine ich.

You may have bad arse fish though. :p:eek:

my lfs suggested me paraguard but it was a waste of money. and ya that true you remove ich completely from the tank, but you can control them, by not to stress you fish, give them different diet and dont add fish without quarantine it.

sorry to hijack this topic but do coral also carry ich on them.
