So I am just leaving gustavus alaska after a week of halibut fishing. What a trip of a lifetime. All in all must have caught over 30 halibut plus a bunch of other stuff. Most of the catch were slot fish. Means over 42" and under 80"

My highlight of the trip was my 76" 240 pound halibut that the captain had a tag for so I could keep it. What a fight. A little over an hour and as soon as I dropped the line back in nailed a 40" one. Looks little in the pic.

Saw orcas (got an amazing picture) humpback whales, dolphins, sea lions, otters, seals, bald eagles just so amazing.

Here are a few pics from my phone but will post more when I get home.

I knew you were out living since I had not seen you post in a week or more.

Awesome stuff for sure, and now I am hungry.

Looking forward to your other images.

Now you just have to go fishing in the Chesapeake bay for striper, or the Gulf of Mexico. That's some of the best fishing I've ever done. Never been for hali-BUT, I hear it's pretty fun. Beautiful pics!

Va spent many a years fishing by the gas docks near Solomons island. With living in long island I have Montauk a short drive away.

But reeling in a fish bigger than me was pretty awesome!

They're great fighters from what I understand. Ultimate thrill for me is sight fishing for cobia. Best tasting fish too. I'd love to head up to Canada sometime for some Muskie fishing on my 5wt fly rod. I'm planning on heading to South America for a fishing trip and visiting family. Can't wait to catch some dorado and peacock bass.
