I had a small outbreak after reseting up my system, nothing violent but a little eye sour, turned off my lights for 48h and didnt feed for a day and the stuff is gone.....like magic!!!

so yeah, starving it from light for three days worked for me ( its the third day morning today, i see no trace of it so i relit my system.....fingers crossed)

hopefully if this crap needs to grow again it will do so in my sump....

Huzzah! Do you have a particular clean up crew in your system? I was looking at ways to help fight "start up algae blooms" in what I hope will soon be a new set up of my own.

i only have 4 large turbo snails in my DT as CUC. to my knowledge there are not many critters that will munch on these basterdly bacteria so your best bet is prevention and patience. i think you may be able to get something that will munch on diatoms but those tend to dissipate rather quickly as the tank matures anyway.
