The picture you see is of my green star polyp which I put in on November 28th. up until now, it has been doing great. But starting yesterday it has looked like this with the things (not sure what they are called) coming out. Is it dying? Is there something I should do. Other livestock is doing well,.

    Temp 80
    Salinity 1.026
    Amonia 0
    Nitrates 8
    Nitrites 0
    pH8.2

My GSP stopped coming out and still doesn't come out to it's full potential but i find the reason is because of a hermit crab that I keep finding on top of my GSPs now i just flick the little guy off lol when I first started seeing it not coming out I searched the web and its seems that tons of people have green star polyps that stay inside for weeks on end and then come out and are perfectly fine so i wouldnt worry right away, i was told if they start becoming really bright pink in the base then to worry but mine havent seemed to do that. I have had my GSP since october if you do a search on GSP in 3reef alone you will see tons of post of people asking why they wont come out as long as your parameters look good then id say it is probably from a pest keep an eye on it

your nitrates are a lil high just do a water change and maybe lower your salinity to 1.024-25 since 1.026 could get a little high from evaporation in your nano

Mine went ˝dormant˝ for almost a week because of a hermit.

just keep checking your levels and do water changes , do you have a few hermits? if you see a hermit on it then i suggest finding a spot for the gsp that is hard to reach from hermits and search for some other threads on 3reef about gsp

Also what lighting are you using? Mine wasn't anything special under the t-5's I had but under the LED's it does well. I definitely upgraded on overall lighting and it came out the second day after and every day since.
