Good Afternoon! New to this site. Have not been able to find the answer I am looking for anywhere so am going to ask. 72 Gal Bowfront/25 Gal Sump. Tank has been established for 6 months. ReefBreeders 48in LED lighting, 40lbs of live rock, roughly 1 in sand bed, Nitrate 0, Nitrite 0, Amonia 0, PH 7.8-8, Calcium 480 - 2 small clowns, 1 cleaner wrasse, 1 firefish, 1 red star, 1 banded urchin, 1 cleaner shrimp, 3 emerald crabs, 10 blue legged hermit crabs, 6 snails, 3 inch colony of zoanthids, 1 inch colony of green star polyps, 1 Duncan Finger coral. Introduced Duncan to the tank about a month ago. Was doing great; eating well and 'fingers' appeared to be getting longer. Had an outbreak of cyano a little over 2 weeks ago. Removed the lights and covered the tank for 3 days. When the light was reintroduced everyone was fine but Duncan. It pulled back and will not extend. It has been 2 weeks with very minimal extension. Can't tell if it's eating, if spot fed it does not grab food, so unsure about nourishment. Currently has good lighting, in minimal flow. Thinking about moving it into a stronger flow and closer to the lights even though it did well in it's current spot when it was introduced. Have read this is a hardy coral so unsure how the loss of light for a few days would harm it. Water parameters have been maintained. Any thoughts?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Duncans do not like Cyanobacteria.

We really need values for parameters. Ca/Alk/Mag, SG and phos with nitrates.

Duncans are my Canary coral, if something is a miss with chemistry Duncans are the first ones to show it. This corals can be touchy when placed next to other corals. I always give mine a wide berth.

    Welcome to 3reef. ;)

+1 They don't need a lot of light or flow either so I would leave it where it is.Fwiw corals don't need to be spot fed to remain healthy.

I would just keep it in the same spot and don't move it. Less irritation the better. With the lights out for 3 days I'm sure you had a minor drop in pH so that could've made the Duncan unhappy. Post parameters when you can of the big 3.
