    I just had to drill 4: 10gal tanks and 2: 20gal tanks.

    1) I filled the tanks with water.
    2) I cut some plywood to sixe if pane of glass and drilled the hole where I wanted it.
    3) held the plywood up to the tank to hold my glass bit in place
    4) had a friend hold my water hose (so the water runs down the glass behind the plywood to the bit
    5) drilled slowly

I drilled all tanks with no problems? Hope this helps

Has anyone tried to drill a tank from Petco, thinking while there doing there $1 gallon sale be a good time to try. Or should I say a cheaper lesson.

I pretty sure all the petco tanks are OK to drill the back wall.

If you're unsure you can use a laptop and a pair or polarized sunglasses or polarized lens filter. If you move the laptop you'll be able to see black lines if it's tempered. That and if it's a new tank there should be tempered stickers on the inside.

Just got back from Petco with my new 40 gallon breeder tank. Tank was marked as tempered and manufactured 11/13. Store employee told me the tanks are all tempered panels. Rolled the dice and now have three 1" holes and all is well, o yea and also a couple of Heineken's to get up the courage. Time to add a nano to the mix, happy days
