Purple sea whip doing well. Got it 6 week ago mail order and the branch was like that I thought shipping stress.
Will it regenerate or should I snip off the bare bits?
    Thanks guys

Leave it unless is starts to spread. I've had my gorgs grow back over lost tissue areas. Also its a photosynthetic coral in case you want moderators to move this post.

    Agreed.

However, I would suggest moving it farther from that nem. It should also be anchored to a rock rather than "planted" in the sand.

+1 with above. They encrust very rapidly too so it shouldn't be a problem.
Watch out for algae growth in that area, I believe iodine dips will help, though I've never had to resort to it. Try to keep it away from all corals in general as the tissue is usually pretty delicate.

Beautiful coloring on yours btw, never seen one with purple polyps like that.

I'll go one further and state that if you leave a "live" area of a gorg buried in the sand, the buried tissue will go necrotic and work its way up the stalk rapidly. If there's no "base" for it, find/make a hole in a rock, strip off the tissue (don't worry, it will grow down over the rock), and super glue it into the hole. You can also simple wedge it between some rocks.
