@Billme yes all 5 fish are in quarantine turns out it was taking my coral beauty faster than i thought. Turns out i think he stressed from my salt readings not being accurate. Tested out with a refractometer and it was 1.031 i thought i was gonna stroke out

Well we found the problem my salt had sky rocketed 1.031 nitrates were at 40 ppm and climbing but i couldn't dare watch how high. So far the coral beauty and goby are gone. Everyone else seems to be doing fine so new filter being ordered more rock going in and am so grateful i found an awesome reefer in my town. He is selling me all the water i need to get back and as much as i need after.helping me with my tests and lets me use his refractometer any time. I feel like the reef gods are smiling on me

Unless treating ich is different in saltwater than in freshwater, I disagree.

I use Kordon Ich Attack when I have an ich issue, and as long as it is used correctly, it does kill the ich. If it didn't, I'd be seeing a reappearance of the spots within a few days. I know this first hand from using products that don't say anything about the life cycle and say to treat only until the parasites are no longer visible on the fish. After having that happen once and losing most of the fish in the tank (neon tetras and a betta) I did my research, and haven't had it happen again. Actually, I rarely have to deal with ich at all, because healthy fish in clean water are less likely to be susceptible to the parasites.

It is vital to keep treating for at least a week after you see the last evidence of ich, as they are only killable during their free-swimming stage, when they are invisible to the naked eye. Once you see them on a fish or other tank resident they are in their last stage. When the spots are gone they have dropped off to lay eggs, after which the adults die. The eggs live in substrate for a couple of days, then are free-swimming for a couple of days, which is why it is imperative to keep treating after all evidence is gone. I usually do as big a water change as possible, including a thorough substrate vacuum, a day or so after the spots are gone, which helps remove the eggs before they reach the free-swimming larval stage. I do not count on this to remove the threat, however, which is why I still treat the tank for several more days after the water change. Many of the products on the market say nothing at all about the life cycle, and those that do usually say to treat for 3-5 days after the spots are gone. 4 or 5 days is probably sufficient, but I always treat for a full week after the spots disappear, sometimes longer, just to be sure.

However, as noted, I have done this with freshwater tanks only, and this procedure may not work at all for a saltwater tank. I'm a very new newbie to saltwater, so I don't know about that.

Hey glass, did you say you are getting more rock? Is it live rock?

 

It was lol. My friend moved into his new place and there was probably 30 pounds sittin on the front porch. And i was like HEY CAN I HAVE THAT! So it is now soaking in rodi and white vinegar then scrubbed soaked and then will use it as base rock (hoping the good live rock in tank will seed it.

 

O and almost forgot! Got salt back to.26 only took 13 gallons 4 days of slow water changes (3 1/2 hours for 5 gallons) and nitrates have dropped but not sure by how much. When we tested he didn't know his wife didn't clean out the shrimp doom the air ball and dumped a bunch in the test tube.what water was left in the dropper we squeezed back in (limited amount for testing so didn't want to waste any and it put shrimp in there to. No more good water lol) goin back tomorrow to re test. Will update then.
