I usually say that too, but I have 2 croceas on the sand and they are happy clams.

Steve, that is 100% a crocea.

The flat rock or even tastier a half of an oyster shell that you ate(;)) can be sild under them. The oyster shell isn't heavy enough to keep a clam from moving when you move the shell, but the shell can be glued down to the rock with that method.

thank you both - its still doing really well, not moved more than a few mm -to change its orientation rather than position.

I have read a number of articles on here and other places
and I have read many times that Clams are demanding on Calcium

now for the 1st x 2 or 3 weeks, my clam must have been acclimatising , settling in, because my weekly dosing due to SPS of calcium equating to 20ppm (broken up into 2 lots - Wed and Sat) was fine and my calc levels stayed relatively constant at 440 ppm
last week my clam decided it was time to begin growing again
my test results Sunday (triple checked) revealed 420ppm calcium
other parameters within normal tolerance so I can only assume that this one clam has utilised as much calcium (20ppm) as all my other SPS frags (17 of them ) do in any given week up to now (they are relatively small still)

taken less than 10 mins ago in responce to your post Shackmel

you can tell based on earlier images that it has moved orientation and is now more front facing than it was before

Steve those are some great shots man! The colors on that clam are truly amazing. I'm a sucker for the ultra blues anyway. Looks healthy and happy. So glad it's working for you!
