As some may know, I have a spawning pair of Ocellaris clowns. The female is normal orange and white, and the male is black and white.

As of right now I have 3 batches of baby clowns.
    75days old - 3 surviving
    50days old - 93 surviving
12days old - too many to count right now...maybe 150-200 surviving
The pics below will show a progression of development using pics from all 3 batches.
    4 day old clowns

12day old clowns - getting their stripes

    30day old clowns

50day old clowns - added DIY anemone

Here is my setup for raising the fry any grow out.
Top shelf: phytoplankton, brine shrimp and grow out tank holding oldest clowns
Middle shelf: larval and grow out tanks. tank on the right is blacked out for new born fry
Bottom shelf: rotifers. I use a 3 bucket system now to ensure there are enough rots for the fry

Starting in August, and every few weeks after that, they will be ready to go to their new homes.
I would like to sell primarily to LFS's. Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be able to make it around to the stores. If not feel free to contact me.
Also if reefers want to come and pick some up they are more than welcome to.

    Hope you enjoyed the pics

    Dude that's awesome!:)

I noticed you got a few abnormally striped ones in the lot, they should be worth more depending on who you sell them to. As for the breeding pair, awesomeness! Wouldn't it be great if they spawned you some black ones!:)

I hope mom and dad are doing great and getting plenty of high protein food (although you look like you know what you are doing);)

thats cool the colours of the babys - like a dark orange and some have black fins.
Shocking that only 3 survive the whole batch

    thanks

As for my oldest set of 3, i think it was a food issue in the beginning, also i was using a swing arm hydrometer for the SG. I can't stress enough the importance of a quality refractometer and good food for the clowns. Those 2 things dramatically improved my survival rate.

Kate - yes those are koosh type balls. but they have been removed. they started to break down a little bit and release oils into the tanks. lost a few fish, so i tossed them and ran some carbon and everything was back to normal.

jimwil22 - thanks. i would just get a refractometer, i have no idea when my swingarm went bad. plus refractometer was pretty cheap on that big auction site on the internet.

I never thought an orange and a black would breed. That is sooooooooooooooooooo cool. Do you know if at some point with genetics that they may produce some blacks ? I wouldve purchased mine that way had I known they would pair up........Dam....LOLOLOL

The majority of my babies came from a black and orange pair. I chuckle when I hear people say they won't mate cuz mine threw me babies every 2 weeks on the clock, five days later take out the tile and let them grow out... I called them "chocolate" and they will never give you a solid black, I've tried for years! Now I have a Aussie black pair that I am waiting to get old enough. They should be by the time I get back form Germany.
Good job on the refract and learning process Rob! K+1
