clam opinions

    i agree that a deresa might be your best bet as a beginner clam but they can get big. crocea's tend to stay small but are more light demanding. if you don't want to go the mh route, you could find yourself a nice t-5 unit with individual reflectors such as the tek light by sls. just a suggestion. (nevermind about the t-5, i just read your sig)

    I would have to agree with the derasa, plus with good conditions they grow very fast which is always good to see in your tank!! Good luck.

    Experience teaches well. A clam might survive under PC lights for a short duration. Same goes to corals. But when it thrives after a year can you absolutely say your setup works.

    Clams even under NO and placed 6-8 inches close to the light source will survive up to year. Before it finally dies. So unless youi just want it for a year, buy MH.

    well its good to see this thread has had a long life. i bought the crocea you see as my avatar, a short time after i started this thread. its been a little over a year now. a couple of weeks ago i noticed that there are new ridges near the top of the clam shell. i am guessing this is signs of growth so thanks to all of you who helped me get started with it. it seems very happy
