I have been doing some research on this product and found that it works by disrupting the sugar cycle of the algae, this is why the symbiotic algae are not harmed, because they are protected by the host coral, supposedly. It will kill any algae, except cyno b/c that is more bacteria then algae. Bryopsis tends to take a little longer, but it is marketed to kill any and all algae it comes into contact with.

Well all I can say is its working and has caused no harm or problems and I have read its a totally natural plant extract and I did dab a bit on my finger and tasted it to see if I could detect any know taste ? I will say I don't think it would kill anyone but you would not want to try and live off of it :) Taste like bitter-root or maybe a little like Dandelion juice ? I don't think it has any barley extract in the mixture ..

Too funny! Are you serious??? You're not, right?

Aren't words like "made from natural ... fill in the blank" just marketing verbage? I mean think about it. What single thing on earth, including herbicides, isn't "made from something natural".

Your tasting it IS an interesting experiment. Chemists used to taste new chemicals back before they had today's knowledge about cancer and stuff, and before useful developments in analysis and instrumentation made tasting chemicals an obsolete method. Except is was good for disovering all of the artificial sweeteners used today. Best of luck with your health dude.

Anyone else reading this ... try an instrument like a Gas or a High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph or an IR spectrometer, or something to id a chemical. Don't taste chemicals.

LOL I have been working in my trades since I was a little helper kid/boy and for so many yrs of playing with and removing Asbestos by the boxes full and tons of lead in the old heating and plumbing days and then all the plastic and Fas-gen Gas from brazing copper refrigerant lines with a little freon gas in them and every different type of Freon and even refrigerant grade ammonia knocked me out once , to working with so many man made freon and electrical lubricants and lubes and coolants in compressors and capacitors to having Agent Orange to rain down on me enough to saturate me.
Then on to working as a set up man for an Allied Chemical Co who built a Plant in Hopewell Va. back in the early 70's that was to make a little product Called Kepon look that one up :) On too god knows what all I've ever had pour tossed or sent to me over the years .. I'm 58 now and so far so good started smoking at 9 maybe 10 ? got to 4 packs aday until I was 27 when i put them down. Hoss if you worry about everything killing you you will miss a lot of living :) I figured speed would get me first since Viet Nam did not ? But I do know no body gets out a live .. and dieing healthy to me in not an option I'd not reccomend for anyone to try it . Tasted like ??? I don't think even sugar could fix it LOL

Tangster, I gotta hand it to you. You are cool. And may God bless you for fighting for this country. The ONLY country on the planet that fights for the rights of common people.

Hate to bring it up, but it is relevant to this thread. I gotta say, a friend of mine was gotten by agent orange. He had lots of trouble from it.

You are a very interesting person Tangster.

    Take care my friend. Salute.

Keep us updated Tangster, I'm now intrigued on how all will turn out. As for bryopsis, I have a feeling that if Tangster himself can't cure it noone can!
A true redneck way of doing things... taste that **** and see what is in it!! I feel we have somehow grown closer after reading this Roger LOL!!!

Tangster, finally someone from the days before Bike helmets, and Asbestos Remediation!
Photo guy, I am 49 years old and like Tangster did all the same things, hell I can remember when I was 19 ripping all the insulation off the pipes in the basement of my folks restaurant in preparation for a new Bar remodel and all that without plastic suits blowers and full face masks....Not saying it was right but people worry to freaking much now about the small Sh!t.

On a more serious not about Algae X - there is a new post on Joliet Area reef club site about this stuff. One of the members was using it and he has experienced some major problems with his SPS and as he mentions so has one of the Local reef vender's. Read and form your own opinions....

Let me know if you can get to this becasue I am not sure if its in a members only section. If it is I can copy it and post it here.

I'm curious to know if they are having that problem more because they had to take their ultralith system off line and maybe shocked the system too much?

Excellent stuff, and thanks 'for sharing, its great to know that there is something out there, for anyone that may be abttling with the algae Bryopsis.

Have you ever used other marin fauna products, i've seen and heard of them , and heard good things.
They do a product that apprently boosts the denitrafying bacteria in live rock to remove nitrates.
Heard good things about that one but have never used it meself.
