I can't believe the difference between using RO/DI water and just distilled water. I have a lot of diatoms in the tank with just distilled water and none in the tank with RO/DI water. The feeding schedule has been the same in both tanks and in the tank used with RO/DI water, the fish have been in there a few more days and are also bigger. Not really much to do with breeding, but I thought it was interesting lol.

It seems that I am having a little problem with diatoms as well, but I will take care of that lol. I hope you enjoy.

I hate to quote myself lol. But i posted that on the 24th of November, and my clowns in my 40 breeder were doing the "breeding dance" again lol. My wife saw the female do the same thing as last time and discharge eggs while swimming again. I watched her for awhile and didn't see it happen again though. They don't clean a certain part of the tank to lay eggs which confuses me. I am thinking of getting a smooth tile to put in there for her. They were both "jerking" around a lot, and acting like she was wanting to lay eggs. Maybe I just aint feeding her well enough to properly develop eggs yet? I just don't know what she is trying to do. All I do know is that this is the 2nd time she has done this since I have owned her lol.

So my wife and I are thinking of dividing the 29 gallon tank that is just kind of setting around right now for our three pairs of clowns. I am wanting to divide these using black acrylic, but I'm having a hard time finding some. This would set up behind a false wall behind my 40 gallon that has a 14 gallon tank underneath it. I would probably put a bigger tank underneath for the sump. The sump will be for the 29 gallon and my 40 gallon breeder DT that has softies in it for coral. What would be a good size sump for 69 gallons of water volume in order to keep the water quality up? My current stand is approx 36" long x 17" wide x 27" tall inside. I might be able to convince my wife to let me build a new stand for the 29 gallon since it is just sitting on a metal stand that came with the tank.

Here are some the responses I got from MOFIB:

you have some struture already by the sounds of it maybe they just need time to get use to there new surroundings
I would definately put a pot in there big enough for both of them to be in at the same time
    Good luck

I think Ben is right. They need more time to get their nest ready. I think the female has eggs at regular intervals, but if they are not ready to actually "mate" (it's a family website!), she just drops them. At least, that's what seahorses and Catalina gobies do...

I didn't really get a big response on the topic, but I feel that I got quality responses at least. At least they say that it could've been eggs that she was getting rid of.

I don't know why I wasn't posting my updates here lol. I forgot about this thread and was posting in my biocube thread. Oh well lol. I lost the 2 snowflakes in February due to my 2 year old thinking the fish were hungry and putting who knows what in the tank. I got that all cleaned up.

We now have a mocha clown and a snowflake in there.

We are thinking of getting a new pair of snowflakes tomorrow as well if the LFS has a pair my wife likes. The manager will give us 10% off if we buy 2 at once lol.

The snowcasso's are getting bigger of course. They should be going on a little over a year old now. I will post some new pics in here in the next few days.
