Can anyone help me ID what's killing my brain and killing it fast. 2 weeks ago I used Red Slime Chemiclean to get rid of my cynobacteral problem which it did in 48 hours. After the 48 hour period I did a 10% water change and 48 hours after that I did another 10% water change. (40 gal breeder tank) I use real ocean water, not self mix. The Red Slime says it is coral safe but I noticed my corals didn't care for it much but since the water change most of them have open up, besides my acros, candy cane, and my brain. Did a water test about 2 hours ago and everything checks out.

    What is your alkalinity?

If you aren't using carbon do it right away.

I see this issue posted with regard to the use of Red Slime removers in a tank with LPS frequently.

No im not dosing at all. All I do is ny weekly water changes and have never had any probs. Im using BRS duel canister GFO/carbon reactor. I had it on since the first water change. Hmm not sure what could be causing this issue
Im stumped. All my lps are dead or dying

Is this a new GFO/carbon reactor? Did you just start to use it or replace the contents recently.

Did you have a higher phosphate level prior to it's use?

The skeleton is so clean on the lps, I would consider cutting back the amount of the gfo being used and see if you get an improvement.

I am stumped to, honestly I can not think of a predator that would do that, it just does not look like it's being eaten to me anyway.

LPS eaters/nippers would include shrimp, angel fish and some crabs.

My concern is where are you getting your water and how far out are you getting it. Might be the first time you brought home contaminated water. Also from my experience(just mine), when using a red slime remover I did the water change all at once. Maybe the sea water and the red slime remover didn't see eye to eye,.

I get my water from my lfs, I live in las Vegas and the water comes from catalina island, off the coast of long beach ca. The 2 water changes I did last week was the 4th water change I did with real ocean water. I've been using the gfo/carbon for about a month now. I will shut down the gfo carbon reactor now and see if it makes any differance.any other ideas? Thanks for all the help so far
