i want to fill my 135 gallon tank with african chiclids. the only fish i have right now is a Columbian Shark (Arius jordani).

how many of the chiclids that get aroung 6" can i have?

can i keep any other fish with them? (sharks, loaches, ect)

To maintain optimum health and longevity for African Cichlids, the pH needs to be buffered to around 8.0 - 8.5. That, alone, will make it difficult to keep other freshwater species in the same tank.

The Cichlid is also a very territorial fish and can be extremely aggressive toward other species. In all honesty, every Cichlid tank I've seen was species-specific.

Ive heard to take the amount of gallons you have and divide it in half, that's how many cichlids you can keep in a tank, I wouldn't go quite that many 6+ inchers, maybe around 40 I'd say. Cichlids are very territorial so the more you pack in the less room they have to fight over.
