Thanks for the advise, trying to keep a budget for a 10 gal tank. I was thinking some blood barbs and glofish. Your thoughts???

For a freshwater tank .Any of the smaller tetras will do and a Corydoras would be great as well. Awesome cleaners.;)I would stay away from barbs as they need a little more room. Heres another link for you that has Freshwater fish a little description of there feeding habits, tank parameters, and minimum tank sizes.Good luck!!

in general with tropical freshwater fish, you would be looking at about 1 inch of fish (not including the tail) for every gallon of water ( surface area is more important than volume so a tank 18 long by 12 wide and 12 tall, can safely stock more fish than a tank 12 long by 12 wide and 18 tall )

thus in your case a total of 10 inches of fish provided your tank is longer than it is tall?

allow for adult potential size of fish, rather than the size they are when you buy them

the fish species mentioned are compatible IMO, you should not have any serious aggresion issues

Glofish are modified Danios and can reach up to 2 inches
Neon tetras have a max size of about 1 inch

as both species do better in a school - minimum 6 - you are probably better with the tetras in the 10 gallon
and half a dozen of those, along with a couple of other fish (scavenger such as the Pygmy corydorus for cleaning up)

Glofish are basically Danios which can be a little nippy at times. They should be fine with Tetras though.;)
Cherry Barbs need a 30 gallon aquarium.
