Acanthophyllia is a solitary, sand dwelling, large polyp stony coral. It forms a radial skeleton with large, fleshy, accordion style curtains which may extend out to the sand in all direction. Short tentacles surround a central, large oral disc and mouth at the center of the fleshy outer curtains. Colors and patterns are nearly unlimited.

I've not kept many acanthophyllia during my time as a hobbyist though I have housed a nice green speckled specimen in my tanks for the last year or so. It seems to do well in conditions that suite other large, solitary,...

My 150 had finally become ready for livestock! Here are some pics. Phone doesn't do the colors justice. Let's start with the preliminaries. I loved my ATI. I've always felt a little like LEDs were holding me back, even when combined with t5s. I couldn't put a finger on it but things never felt quite right.

I have tried to studiously avoid arguments about what light is best. Eliminating the variable of LED doubt became, for me, a definite goal however.

My problem has always been getting my wife to agree a light fixture is sufficiently attractive to use in our living room. That eliminated many of the black plastic options. After some research, I decided to try the Geissman Spectra Infinity.
