I have had a yellow tang (earl) for 6 months now, when I got him no problems never got ich, he's never had any diseases and has always ate consistently, I feed him once a day with nori everyday as well. He was doing good the last week, swimming around being happy, full of life, this morning checked my tank before school, earl was doing the usual swimming around the tank prior to the lights turning on, everything was fine, came home fish were all doing good. Fed the fish, he came out a little didn't eat. I thought that was a little odd but didn't think much about it. About ten minutes ago went over to take a break from homework, and I saw my tang laying in the corner on its side. He's still alive but breathing short fast little breaths. I know he's not going to make it..... unfortunately. Did tests on water quality. Everything is perfect, all my other fish are acting totally normal like nothing ever happened but within like 2 hours my tang went from happy healthy to dying. I honestly have know idea what happened. He has know signs of ich or any disease. Any help on this would be great. This has been a bad week, my delectus dottyback (Satan) kills my little goby and now my tang randomly dies. If anyone has some sort of explanation please share!

If you can try and post a pic, that being said try and do a hospital tank to see what you can do to help him and to get him away from the other fish (just in case)

He just died, I don't know what happened... by the time i found him, I knew it was to late, but treating him wouldn't have done much i think based on the fact i have know idea what it was or what happened.

sorry to hear that  I hate it when everything looks perfect and all of a sudden somthing like that happen, I would prepare just in case and have a QT/Hospital tank ready to be set up and I would test your water for everything under the sun including nitrates ,nitrites, ph, copper, and anything you can think of just to be safe.

Yeah I have tested everything, except copper. I'll do that right now. Im angry i just had to flush 30 dollars down my toilet but, I am baffled It was like a 2 hour time period between him being perfectly fine then him disappearing and reappearing half dead on my sand bed.

some times it happens and it really does suck I had a blue and yellow tail damsel that just disapeared one day after surviving not one but 3 full blown cycles in my 20 gallon made me mad as crap. I realy belive that some fish are just prone to short life expectcies in a Aquarium and other just live forever. My sister in law had a silver dollar that live for 11 years!!!! and then died one day because of a M&M being droped into the tank LOL

out of curiosity do you have any corals in the tank that may have stung him or any new aditions that could have bulied him enough to kill him?

No you can look at my tank though. I just put a picture up from my cell phone. the photo doesn't do justice though. I wish we could post video's. And as far as new fish added. The tang six months ago was the last addition. Except for Gerald who was added monday but he only survived 3 minutes in my tank. Its a long story but you just half to read my signature to get a general idea of what happened.
