Oh pssssssh...you don't know 3reef :D We have some pretty awesome reefing chica here. Schackmel (sp?) is mistaken as a guy all the time. She's our official "try anything in a 29 Biocube” girl. And then there’s kcbrad…she’s just a nut case (and a short one, too :p) And Puffer Chick can go into the nutcase category as well  But they’re all awesome people. Plus, now when new 3reefers see your username and call you a guy, we can all secretly laugh on the inside and put subtle pronoun hints in our posts. :D

Plus, I’m 19 years old, and I’m definitely not going to hit on people claiming to be female through an online forum. Your secret is safe with me, reeferwoman ;)

As =jwin= said.....there are more women in this hobby, and especially here on 3reef, than you think ::) Usually when someone says "thanks guys" or "dude" more than one of us will say "your welcome, but I'm a gal". Its kind of funny when it happens.

The first time I (22 yrs old) went to sea was on the 125' Two Masted Double Topsail Schooner Liberty Clipper, we sailed from Key West to Boston did the summer season in Boston and then back to Key West. Her VHF Radio call sign is WTZ plus four numbers I can't remember (WhiskyTangoZulu@#$%). I liked it and have been WTZ, WT78 or WT for all kinds of stuff since then, gmail, xbox, etc.....

Don't visit the bucket much but since I'm here tonight this looks interesting. :)

Screwtape is from the book Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis which I read a long time ago, it's about an older demon (Screwtape) teaching a younger demon how to corrupt regular humans.
I'm not particularly religious or anything but I do think a lot of the ideals in the book, and most religions, are pretty spot on from a morality standpoint. I just tend to think of the greater demon as a more interesting character (he had a book written about him, right?) than most of the boring little people also mentioned. :)

I like the thread title though so this is truly what makes me who I am:

"Its occurred to me that if everybody could be there just once to see for themselves what white phosphorus does to the face of a child, or what unspeakable pain is cause by a single bullet, or how a jagged piece of shrapnel can rip someones’ leg off. If everyone could be there just one time to understand the fear and the grief just one time they would understand that nothing is worth letting that happen to one person…. let alone thousands. But everyone cannot be there….and that is why photographers go there. To show them…to reach out and grab them….to shake people out of their indifference"
    -James Nachtwey

I am a combat photographer who cannot stand the thought of my son wondering if this is the trip daddy won't come home from. That is why I find my wars here on American soil and fight them as hard as my photos will fight them. One day when he is grown I will find my place intentionally and possibly die doing what I believe is right.
