Who uses a Tatronic type light over fuge?

Anyone?

 

I use the Marineland LED light on mine. Growth is crazy and best of all it was less than 40 bucks.

 

If you mean the standard, blue and white only, no dimmer, 55led/120W light-
I might start!

I used 2 of those on my 125 for a few years, then went with 3 x 55led, 120- but the full spectrum/dimmable LEDs over my 180.
The other 2 LED's are in a box in my basement- work fine.

I was gong to try it over my massive chaeto- but can't bring myself to do it when I get great growth out of my 2 x 100W CFL bulbs, each a aluminum cone like reflector.

I planned to use the old LED's over a frag area soon.

I used a generic 120w fixture over my fuge for about 3-4 months. almost all the blues were burnt out so it was just whites running. It didn't work well for a fuge light for me. CFL's work great and im currently running a 2 blub t5ho fixture on mine that also works well with the correct bulbs.
the leds just seemed to be to powerful for a fuge (I was running a non dimmable fixture though)

 

I was recently at Unique corals and had a chance to see my first taotronics light. It looked kile an absolute beast. I was curious as to what it looked like since it had the potential to be the brightest LED light I had ever seen. When Dave turned it on there was a loud buzzing as Sparks and a little fire shot out of the fixture. Dave bravely hit the switch to off and posted a sign on it saying fire hazard. Needless to say that is my only memory of their products.

That is also the model that I have not personally known anyone to have.
My Taotronics has the 11 rows of 5 LED's, alternating blues and whites. They actually still work fine, and I still have them.
MY original ones are the non dimmable, and only a blue spectrum and one white spectrum- and it grew corals too!
NOthing like my current knock offs though that are full spectrum and dimmable.
They are PAR MONSTERS TOO- and yes, I had put a PAR meter to them

I too have a full spectrum version of the chinese 55x 3 watt diodes. I switched back to my halide so I just have it sitting around. I am struggling to keep my phosphates down so I was hoping that this unit would grow massive amounts of chaeto. My CFL 6500 just didn't seem t grow much.
