    I'm curious as to what is the ideal water temperature for the most coral growth and yet maintaining health happy fish and inverst. May seem dumb for asking but if you read on a lot of coral temp rang says 72-83.... that a wide range.

    Depends on where your corals are from really and what depth they grow at in the wild.I have found a range between 76-79 to be fine.More important then the actual temp. (within reason of course) is how much it swings from day to night.Keeping the swing within 2-3 degrees is best ime.

    The swing is within 3 degrees, but my tank is more on the lower 70s end of the spectrum. See I never had a heater due to having a hood and powercompacts, but now I'm hoodless with leds. My water is between 74 to 76.

    usually upper 70's works for most livestock although as Vinny mentioned there are some cold water species of coral out there but these are not real common in our tanks

    Thanks, I picked up the heater and set it to mid 70's.
