so they went at it again last night have a nice little batch of new eggs in my DT.

this time i have live rotifers in abundance (Brachionus plicatilis) together with a 5 gallon tank waiting to host them in a weeks time.

iv covered the side and bottom of this tank with a black plastic bag to limit light penetration.

im thinking of providing lighting with a couple OSRAM powerstixx leds (4,7 W 3000 color temp)

and of course a heater and airstone.

hopefully someone can direct me in the right direction.

my plan of action is to leave the little eggs in the DT with mom and dad till the night before hatching. that night ill transfer them to the nursery filled with DT water (this is as far as i got last time, a couple of the eggs hatched but the frys didnt last more than a couple days.)

im lost in terms of the feeding schedule and water changes, for example when can i start trying to feed them something other than rotifers.

i was thinking of moving the parents to the nursery as well seeing as papa clown is the one who takes care of the juniors, or is this a bad idea?

so if there is a master breeder on here please help me out!!! would love to raise these little guys.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    What temp is fry tank?
Did they lay eggs on tile or other medium?
Do you know the exact day they laid?
I would leave the pair in their tank, watch for hatch and remove the fry as able. If you do not get it time you will with up coming batches., it just take practice. If all stays the same they will be breeding every roughly every 2 weeks, you'll get plenty of practice.

the nursery will be at the same temp as DT (26°c) and will be filled with water directly from my DT (ill be able to recycle the 20L of water i usually throw out during a WC this time, good right? or should i use newly stirred SW?)

they laid the eggs on a rock that i can easily remove this time.

i scout my tank real often so anything new i notice quite rapidly. I'm 95% sure they spawned last night, sunday 29.9.13 (im the one who usually goes crazy trying to read american format dates now its all of your turn, though there isnt a month numbered 29...you have it easy)

last time, like clock work exactly 7 days after i notice the eggs they hatched, ill be transferring the rock with the little "silver bullets" sat or sunday night ill have to take a look.

Temp sounds good. Not sure what the current thinking on display water versus fresh. If you hatch the eggs in the fry tank fresh, if you catch the fry on hatch night display seems like a logical conclusion. I would highly encourage you to put a tile leaned up against the rock where they lay, it will save you in the long run once they hopefully choose to lay on the tile. After a while you will be able to recognize by appearance of the eggs when hatch will happen, add to that the days and you should get very proficient at it. The male takes much better care of the eggs in the display there is no question about that.

funny coincidence i was actually looking at a documentary on clownfish reproduction in the wild a couple days before mine spawned (maybe the documentary on TV gave them some ideas ;) ) apparently in the wild as well its the male who does most of the work by constantly oxygenating the eggs with his pectoral fins.

congratulations Swiss! Do tell how things work out. I would really like to do this one day. I've read several posts on forums in terms of raising fry - one of the most detailed ones I read was on reef-geeks but the site is no longer available I don't believe. It's one of those things though, IF I get lucky enough to have a pair spawn, I'd have to reread everything for clarity.

Hopefully there's a 3reefer that has successfully raised fry that can help you!

thx corailline , i tried the tile story but it is rather unsightly :s, if i place the rock back the way it was you reckon they will spawn there again? would make my life a lot easier....
