That's a pretty good idea. Do you have a T installed to circulate the pressure back in the ATO when the float is closed? I'm about to do this setup in the mean time until I transfer over my complete apex to the new tank.

No, but that nay not be a bad idea. Keeps the ato water moving and prevents pressure on the pump.

What pump?, my ATO that works flawless has no pumps, no sensors, no power (except gravity)

A few years back I had a similar set up I drilled a hole through the glass in my sump attached a float valve that was directly connected to the RO unit. It worked perfectly for year. The only complaint I had was if there was a lot of top water movement it kept turning the RO on and off. Also in error one time I forgot to turn the RO on when I went outta town and burned up all my pumps UV light. But again it was my error.

Your Idea is a better thought out plan. You have the RO feeding a float valve in your reservoir then a lower hole with another float in your sump allowing it to fill from your reservoir. Is that how it works?

    Why yes, it is.

I have a plastic john guest valve before the resevoir, and one before the sump, to shut either off if/when needed.

NO problems with it for years. I like how it adds nearly drop for drop of evaporation- so my SG stays rock steady.
