When your water tests as having 30x the appropriate amount of barium, stop dosing barium.

Someone please remind me when I do something this obviously stupid again...

Were you giving your tank some kind of uncomfortable medical test?? Sorry to hear of your blunder. Anything bad happen as a result?

Just some burned tips I've been trying to track down the source of. A frustrating month, but all better now.

This is why I like the KISS method, personally. All I like to dose is calcium and alk, with small weekly water changes.

I like this title Serv. A place people can go to give some great advice or to help others learn from their own mistakes as I am from a couple weeks back with stirring the entire sandbed and now I have a huge breakout of either diatoms or cyano. Not sure which one it is.

    My tip of the day:
Never stir the entire sandbed, do it in moderation over a period of time. When cleaning the sandbed I'm trying a fork with a small siphon tube attached to it. This should take anything I stir up right out of the tank instead of stirring it and letting it settle down somewhere else. I was recently given some great advice by mdbostwick in taking that siphon tube and running it into a sock and back into your sump. This will allow you to move about your rocks and clean them more thoroughly. On the rocks I'll use the siphon attached to a turkey baster to clean up anything.

Again, I really like the title, I hope you don't mind.

Servillius, just a reminder buddy, stop dosing barium.;) I was liking the KISS method but now as my corals have doubled in size I've been seeing potassium being used up and my weekly 10 gallon water change on the 75 isn't enough so now I have to dose that along with my calcium and alkalinity. Figured it's cheaper than adding another water change.

I have never heard of anyone dosing or even testing barium, out of curiosity what is barium's role in our aquariums?

It is a coloring agent in one of the Zeovit products. The product itself works as advertised. No accounting for user error.
