    Nah not a sharpnose, hard to tell. Maybe a juvenile bull, black tip, or grey reef.

    Yeah couldn't really make it out to either, so I just figured it may be the more common of the two (for me came down to either grey reef or juvie bull)

    There used to be a huge Goliath grouper off Bethyl. We used to see it all the time when we were out there catching bait, but come to think of it we haven't seen it in a while now. One of my best friends led the charge in the protection of these fish years ago. I'll see if he still has pics of some of the "volkswagons" they tagged.

    Thanks for sharing. I'd love to see pics and how did your friend lead in the protection of Goliath Groupers?

    He's a marine biology major. He now lives in Alaska researching salmon. One of his internships during college was to catch and tag Goliath Groupers to research them. He was based down in the Fl Keys. I'll get a hold of him and see if he still has any of the data collected.

    The strong likelihood of ciguatera alone would keep the big ones off my plate.
