That's not STN its RTN. It may look ugly but I highly recommend cutting it and gluing it to a new plug/base.

If it stopped, I would leave it.

I'm sorry but I'm going to disagree and stand firm by this. RTN is nasty. It can stop for a day then kill a colony overnight. I'd say 1 in 10 or 15 of those maricultured colonies make it without intervention when they're RTNing.

Well I fragged it, I got 2 nice pieces. I was considering letting it be because it looked as though it was getting better but after inspecting it and seeing the amount of deteriorating flesh on the underside I choose to frag it.

Well, in my experience, fragging has done very little if anything to stop RTN or STN. It usually continues on with the fresh cuts unless you solve the reason for tissue necrosis.

If it stops, it was usually already stopping due to improved water conditions. Like in this case, moving it from the tank that caused it to tank that stopped it.

I've never found stressing an already stressed acro to be successful. It usually just amplifies the issue.

Well, speaking for myself, often times the Acro will continue to RTN even in pristine conditions. That's just the nature of that beast. This is why you frag a half inch to inch above the receding area. RTN doesn't just stop.

STN is a bit different, often times something as simple as flow can stop it, however I usually frag these too.

I've seen substantially more successes fragging colonies with necrosis versus leaving them. There's a reason why people recommend fragging the healthy portions, especially when RTN is involved.
