Saltwater mixing station

point well taken. my above drawing is scrapped.

 

I'll give this a try along with capping the end and drilling a few holes along the pipe. I'll let everyone know how it all works out.

 

I tried yesterday to make a video but couldn't upload an mpeg I guess. Next time I'll try with my cell and see how that works. More to come

 

If you want 2 outlets for coverage you might see if you can find a Y piece or something like that and have them both just point downward. I don't know I am just brainstorming here and have no knowledge of how it will actually work out.

 

When I did the test run with the two 1/2 pipes creating a whirlpool everything worked great. The water spun around easily (at least to me it did). I just don't know, as you pointed out, if it'll clean out the middle. I'm open and going to try capping the ends of the 1/2 and drilling some holes along pipes to see what that does. I will also try RB's design and see how that goes as well. This is new to me as well, and as long as the salt dissolves I'll be happy either way. The added benefit of RB's design is the O2 that is continually added to the system

 

You could always buy a PH and toss in there too

 

If you are getting a whirlpool you are good - the salt will dissolve just mix the day before. You will be fine. Keep it simple. I just showed you my drawing as what I did. It is a fairly simple design but works great.

 

Tomorrow is the test run. Tonight just some a couple pictures to see if anyone might have any additional suggestions that I haven't thought about. The "T" with the ball valve will be pointing downward and will be running to the sump and will be the way to drain the bin when needed or pull water for my sons soon to be seahorse tank

What is the clear tube on the side for? Top down pic?

 

I thought I'd add it just to see water flow. Since I can't see inside the bin it would be an easy indicator if the pump starts to go bad.

I'm also going to extend the front out a bit and add a quick disconnect
