Replace sand

    tank probably 5 years running-have not replaced sand in refugium-does it need to be replaced?!?!

    No sir, absolutely not. In 5 years, your bio-filter and micro-fauna have just reached the perfect balance, and thus, their maximum potential at digesting whatever the main tank throws at them. Keep up with your routine maintenance and your refugium sandbed will never need to be disturbed. Keep an eye on the depth and add a small amount of dry sand as needed. That's all you should ever do.
