I have red algae taken over how can I stop it

Welcome betta. You've come to the right place for answers. The first thing is to identify is if it is Cyanobacteria. A pic would help. Have you had your water tested? One thing to consider is that cyano is very efficient at absorbing nitrates and phosphates. You can have very low readings on nutrients and cyano will do just fine since the nutrients are trapped within the cyano. I've managed to control it by being aggressive with lowering feeding, water changes, vacuuming up the cyano, and reducing the amount of light.
