Your clams are so beautiful and they are opened up so wide. I don't think mine has ever been that open. I'm told it has good mantle extension. Should mine be more open?

Thanks, between my star polyps and button polyps its about to be completely surrounded. My tank is really growing you can tell a big difference from the first picture I posted and the second, especially with the rock on the right hand side with the polyps.

Cindy don't sweat it, your clam is doing great. Maximas don't open as wide as Squamosas.. you should pick up this book Gresham lent me.. Giant Clams by Daniel Knop - ' A comprehensive Guide to the Identification and Care of Tridacnid Clams'  It's incredible! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

That book has been recommended to me before and I would like to get it. My hubby and I are fixin to go to Dallas to Frye's electronics. (He's Mr. Computer Man) . We don't have much of anything around here in podunk city so we have to go to Dallas. Anyway, there is a half price book store close to Fryes and I believe I have seen that book there. I'll run by there and check it out. It seems like it was a pretty good sized book if I remember correctly and it had a decent price on it.

Can my polyps growing so closely to the clam hurt it. They grown somewhat under the mantle and right up against it. It doesn't seem to be bothering him but I was afraid that they could sting him. Can they?
