Just got a nice probably 2.5" gold maxima with a little spot of blue. had good mantle extension and reaction to shadows. Very healthy little critter.

So where should i put him? I have a big derasa(8") on sand bed who is very happy and healthy. I have 2 120w reefbreeders led lights with 90* optics over my 75gal tank.

Should i start him on sand bed and see how he does? I know these lights are very powerful.

Also should i put him on sand bed? or on a rock so he can attach? Please let me know asap he is in bag acclimating in tank now! will put up pic after i get him in!

    thanks! ;D;D;D

Put him on a rock. Maximas are rock dwelling clams and they love to be up high. They LOVE light

Me personally, I just put mine up high, right under the light. It opened up and attached right away. If it doesn't like the light you put it under, it will kick itself off the rock.

There he is! Opened right up! Thats with all blues off, only way my camera will let me take pics of tank. He has a nice gold color to him with a blue spot. Will get a pic of that when he fully extends his mantle. Thanks for the help! Will post more pics soon

How do people get good pics of the tanks? Mine never looks as good as they do in person. :( But thank you! My LFS said within 2 weeks they will have a bunch of ORA clams coming in. So I may end up with a few more :)

I really like that clam. I just got my first clam since "the big crash of 2010" and I feel the addiction coming back on.

Beautiful.I really like clams. I have 6 currently. My maxima looks just like yours, also my large derasa. Clams become addictive, as if this hobby isnt addicting enough. Congrats, very nice.
