I have a mushroom problem. They have taken over the lower levels of my tank and started up towards the top. I really can't tear down my scape to remove the rocks because they are glued together. Any suggestions on removing them?

They are small in the picture because I irritated them cleaning the glass but when they are fully open they cover the whole lower level.

In theory you could try turning your lights up. Might discourage any further growth upwards from the mushrooms.

Hard to actually "get rid of" them though

Acropora should win that battle pretty easily, ime. You should be able to mount acro frag plugs right over them without issues. That should help get ride of them.

Scraping them is a sure fire way to cause them to mutip!y. You could use aptasia x or lemon juice but with that many it may be futile.

I'm thinking I might get some live rock rubble and cover the mass of them and hopefully they will move to the rubble or be smothered out if that's a possibility. Then go at them with vinegar/lemon juice

Just be careful. Squishing and tearing them will cause them to multiply faster.

As implied, soft corals and mushrooms are survivalists; the more you irritate or disturb them, the faster they will multiply. Covering them will only cause them to release from their current foot-hold and move, and again, multiply faster. Unfortunately, your only recourse will be to nuke the rocks to which they're attached; otherwise, just enjoy the fact that something loves your tank so well. :)
