maxima clam started to melt

    yes i have 150 watt mh
    drip acclimated him for 1.5 hrs
    i dont know mag but alk is 8
    will post pic shortly

    Are you talking about the slit in the center of the mantle?

    If so, that's the intake siphon.

    no the intake siphon is gone. take a closer look. there is no membrane on half of the clam it disintegrated

    if you look at the white thing in the center of the clam that is the inside of the clam. there is no covering.

    I'm not a clam expert, but my clam intake gets that big and I can regularly see in just as much. It looks healthy from this picture, and a very nice specimen.

    Your clam looks pretty healthy, IMO if a clam had the injury you described, it wouldnt be extended like that.
